Itinerary of a one day Kampala City Tour
Our day begins early in the morning with our first stop at the Lubiri (Kabaka’s palace). Here we will visit the Buganda administrative center and parliament. Proceed to Namirembe hill with a panoramic view of the city. Predominated by St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe, schools, hospitals, and Centre for Anglicans’ that is church of Uganda. Then stretch to newly renovated Gadhafi National Mosque, the biggest in Uganda. It has an eye tower enabling you to access the Seven hills of Kampala. At a glance down is Captain Fredric Lugard’s monument shooting you down town “congested” city with motor cycles (boda boda), taxi, and crowds of people to and from the city center.
Then stretch to Kasubi Hill for the great UNESCO world heritage site. The wondrous Kasubi Royal Tombs have updated on-site guides, folklores and pregnant history. This sacred site serves as the final resting place for four Buganda kings and the royal family. Recently, on February 28, 2025, it welcomed Omulangira Goloba, a beloved prince, to his eternal home. The grounds reverently preserve the heritage and legacy of the kingdom’s royal lineage. Have lunch at a restaurant nearby. Continue to the beautiful Baha’i temple along the Northern By Pass to Baha’i road around Kisaasi. It has a cool eco environment coupled with bird watching and the unique nature of the Baha’i faith. Continue to the newly renovated Mandela National Stadium. It obtained its name in honor of foreign Pan African hero the first Black South African President Sir Nelson Mandela. Wind up the long day with a drive to the historical Martyrs shrine (Catholic and Anglican). The shrine powerfully commemorates the 25 Uganda Martyrs. Whose lives were tragically robbed by Kabaka Mwanga of the Buganda Kingdom. Their courageous stand continues to inspire generations, and the site stands as a lasting tribute to their unwavering faith and ultimate sacrifice.
