A 3 days gorilla trekking safari will take you to Bwindi Impenetrable National park. The park is located in South Western Uganda, Kabale and Kisoro districts, boasting the highest population of gorillas in the whole world. Over 600 species reside here. A 3 days gorilla trekking safari will reward you with over 120 mammals, with 10 of them being primates, 350 species of birds, 27 frog species and 310 butterfly species. The very thick vegetation justifies the name “Impenetrable”.
There are four sectors in Bwindi namely; Rushaga in the South, Ruhija in the East, Nkuringo in the South and Buhoma in the North. Each sector has a unique experience. Nkuringo is the hardest to trek due to its terrain but offers the best views of Mt. Nyiragongo and Nyamuragira. Rushaga is the only sector where research and gorilla habituation takes place.

Day 1 of a 3 days gorilla trekking safari
Transfer from Entebbe to the wild mist.
Pick up from the hotel very early in the morning by your guide, and immediately embark on our yet to be fascinating journey in a super custom/land cruiser. Travel towards the west along the Kampala-Masaka highway with a stop at the Equator monument in Kayabwe. Take part I’m the famous water experience.
Continue our journey with a fingerlicking good lunch in Mbarara. Proceed as you enjoy beautiful scenery off to the Switzerland of Uganda. The meandering of the road around the Kigezi highlands is breathtaking. Branch off 14Kms off from Kabale town through the rolling hills of Rwampara and Munego covered by banana plantations.
Arrive at the hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Trekking Gorillas, Nature walk and community safari.
Have an early morning breakfast and move to the park headquarters by 7:30am, for a briefing and a chance to ask all you need to know about Mountain Gorillas. At around 8:30am, set off for our long anticipated gorilla experience with ranger guides and armed rangers for our safety. The trek can be as short as 2hours to 8hours, depends on the family location. On encountering them a maximum of one hour with the park giants is awarded. You will come across other primate species like the colobus, red-tailed and l’hoest monkeys.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Set off for a nature walk at 2:00pm for 2-3hours. Get a chance to see various bird species like the black bee eater, regal sinbird, butterflies among others. Spend your evening on a community walk of the Batwa. Enjoy a one-on-one with these hospitable people. You’re in for an entertainment session of cultural music and dance. Feel free to take part.
Go back to the lodge for overnight.
Day 3
Return to Kampala.
After our early morning breakfast, we drive through Kigezi hills covered with mist in the morning and banana plantations with cattle grazing by the roadside in Ntugamo. Stopover at Igongo cultural center/Agip motel for lunch in Mbarara city. From there, drive straight to Kampala with healthy stops and roadside shopping, arriving at our hotel in the evening.
